What's new in Tallyroot

Every change you can see in the app, newest first, going back to August 2026. Since late October 2026 it also lists fixes to anything you could have noticed going wrong. Much of it started as a request from someone using Tallyroot. For what might come next, see the roadmap.

October 2026

  • Oct 25

Typing a lot of transactions into one account by hand, or importing its statement again? Tallyroot suggests syncing that bank instead, and a dismissed suggestion stays away for three weeks

  • Oct 25

Before you approve a bank account's first sync, see what its balance in Tallyroot will be next to the bank's today, and fix any difference with one tick Premium

  • Oct 21

A bank account you just linked waits for you: see what its first sync would bring in, pick what to keep, and nothing is added until you approve it Premium

  • Oct 18

Connect your banks through your own Lunch Flow account, and your transactions and balances come into Tallyroot on their own, four times a day Premium

  • Oct 17

In the Envelopes budget style, create, rename, reorder and delete groups, and move a category to another group or up and down from its menu

  • Oct 8

Sold a bond before it matured? Record the sale right from the bond's page, for some or all of your pieces

  • Oct 6

See which budget category a loan's repayments count toward right on the loan, link or unlink it there, or create a repayment category for the loan in one step

  • Oct 4

In the Envelopes budget style, top an envelope up to its savings target with one click when you fill, and look back at your last fills on the Budget page

  • Oct 4

Link a loan to a debt repayment category, and every repayment you transfer into the loan shows up in your budget while still lowering what you owe

  • Oct 4

When you record a transfer between two currencies, see the exchange rate your two amounts work out to next to the market rate for that day, with a warning if they look swapped

  • Oct 2

Turn off the email you get each time new transactions sync, from Settings, as any member of a workspace

  • Oct 1

Your over/under budget history now shows in your second currency, with each month converted at the exchange rate from its end

  • Oct 1

Your net worth history chart now shows in your second currency, with each day converted at that day's exchange rate

  • Oct 1

Each category and envelope on your Budget page now shows what it holds and has spent in your second currency, while the amounts you plan and save towards stay in the currency you set them in

  • Oct 1

With a second currency set, charts and reports that still show your main currency now say so, so you never mistake one for the other

  • Oct 1

Your Budget page totals now show in your second currency too, and a past month uses the exchange rate from the end of that month

  • Oct 1

Moved country? Pick a second currency in Settings and see your net worth, cash and budget balance in it at today's exchange rate, without changing anything you have recorded

September 2026

  • Sep 29

Transactions in another currency are converted at the exchange rate from the day they happened, so imported history keeps its real value instead of taking today's rate

  • Sep 27

Switch between a monthly plan and envelopes starting this month, and see which envelope balances would change before you decide

  • Sep 27

In the Envelopes budget style, see how each envelope is doing against its savings target and how much more it needs, with that amount shown when you fill

  • Sep 27

In the Envelopes budget style, see what each envelope has spent this month and how much of it is used, get an email when an envelope runs low or goes below zero, and tick off "Set a budget amount" by filling

  • Sep 27

Clearer category types: see which ones carry unspent money over, get a warning when savings sit in a type that resets every month, and see the new balance before you convert it

  • Sep 27

Choose between a monthly plan and envelopes when you first set up Tallyroot, and fill your envelopes right away if you pick envelopes

  • Sep 27

Switching to Envelopes shows your envelopes and the Fill button straight away, and when you fill many envelopes, what is left and Save stay in view

  • Sep 27

Apply a new categorization rule to your existing transactions as soon as you save it, and undo a recent bulk change from the Transactions page even after its notice has gone

  • Sep 27

Importing a single bank file now shows its dates and points out any days an earlier import already covers, including your older imports

  • Sep 27

Delete many transactions at once, with a preview of what will be removed and what can't be

  • Sep 27

In the Envelopes budget style, see what is in each envelope and what is left to fill, and fill your envelopes by hand whenever money arrives

  • Sep 26

Choose an Envelopes budget style in Settings, so the amounts you give a category stop repeating into the months after

  • Sep 26

Select many transactions at once and change their category, merchant or budget month in one step, with a preview first and 15 minutes to undo

  • Sep 26

Apply a categorization rule to the transactions you already have, see exactly what will change first, and undo it within 15 minutes

  • Sep 26

Undoing an import can now take everything out, including transactions you split, recategorized or turned into transfers after importing

  • Sep 26

Import files from several accounts in one go: choose which account each file goes into, and see the results for each account separately

  • Sep 26

When you import several bank files at once, Tallyroot points out a missing month between them and any dates you already imported before

  • Sep 26

Import several months of bank statements at once: drop up to 25 files, map each bank's columns once, and transactions that show up in two files are left out of the second

  • Sep 26

Imported the wrong bank file? Undo the whole import from Settings, keep anything you've edited since, and import the file again

  • Sep 25

When your bank sends an updated copy of a transaction you had split or changed, your balances stay right and Tallyroot tells you what it undid

  • Sep 22

Setting up your budget no longer overwrites an account you've already put in a different currency when you change the currency your budget is kept in

  • Sep 20

More currency conversions now succeed automatically, even between two currencies with no direct exchange rate

  • Sep 13

The budget page now charts how far over or under budget you've been each month, not just where you stand right now

  • Sep 13

You can now import your Interactive Investor transaction history, including trades, dividends, interest and cash movements

  • Sep 13

Bond redemptions now count their fee toward your trade costs, the realized gains report, and each holding's lifetime fees

  • Sep 13

Your realized gains report now shows the fee you paid on each sale, on screen and in the CSV and PDF exports

  • Sep 12

Net-worth and FIRE projections now start after 3 months of budgeting, not 12, and sharpen as you add more history

  • Sep 12

Your portfolio page now splits out broker fees charged outside of trades, like transfer or account fees, from your trading costs

  • Sep 12

You can now record a return of capital on an investment, which lowers what you paid for it instead of counting as income

  • Sep 11

Each investment's own page now shows the total fees you've paid on it, including shares you've already sold

  • Sep 11

The Dividends page now shows what you earn per share, and your yield against what you actually paid for each holding

  • Sep 11

You can now record a broker fee on an investment by itself, kept separate from your dividend and tax totals

  • Sep 10

Dividend payments from a Portfolio Performance import now show up on your Dividends page

  • Sep 9

Recording a dividend or interest payment now lets you mark it as reinvested, adding the shares to your position automatically

  • Sep 9

Your portfolio page now shows what your broker has actually charged you in fees

  • Sep 9

When you sign up, you can now jump straight to tracking your investments instead of setting up a budget first

  • Sep 9

You can now record a withholding tax charge on an investment by itself, without needing a dividend or interest payment to attach it to

  • Sep 8

When net worth flags a security with no price, it now links straight to fixing it instead of just naming it

  • Sep 8

Creating an account now lets you set its starting balance right away, instead of adding it as a separate step afterward

  • Sep 5

Buying and selling investments now accepts share quantities typed the way your country writes them, like 0,5

  • Sep 4

Investment prices, fees, values and loan amounts now accept numbers typed the way your country writes them, like 1.657,56

  • Sep 2

Adding a security by hand now puts the price search front and center, shows each result's currency, and warns you before a mismatch leaves it unpriced

  • Sep 1

Net worth and cash available at the top of the app now turn red when they go negative, instead of always showing green

  • Sep 1

You can now record a bank transaction as a loan payment, and undo it later if you change your mind
